Big Fish Challenge with The Burtonesque Dolls

This week Smeared Ink is partnering with The Burtonesque Dolls to sponsor their Big Fish Challenge!

The fabulous Dolls got the chance to play with our Carnies stamps and Fortune Teller Digi. You MUST go over and see what they created! The challenge is to create a Big-Fishy Scene based on the movie Big Fish, and you have until Monday, August 3rd to submit your entries if you wanna play for a great prize!

The winner will get a Carnies Umnounted Stamp Sheet and our Fortune Teller Carnie Digi, which isn't even available to purchase anymore - how cool is that!

So, in honor of this awesome challenge I have created my own Big-Fishy Scene out of an altered box. I got the box from Michael's for about $2 on clearance (I love clearance sales). Here is a picture of the box before i got my grimey, paint-covered hands all over it:

I primer'd and painted the box with acrylic paints. Red for the base and then a pearl to create the stripes. I then added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (tea dye). I stamped a bunch of carnie images to the top of the box with my Stazon Black. I cut a small rectangle from my Jen Wilson Spectrums Paper Pad (bought on clearance as well, half price...yea baby :) and distressed it. I stamped out the frame from Smeared Inks Nymphs Set on another sheet of paper from the same pad and then cut it out. Used some silver paint to make a "mirror" behind the frame. Then I stamped out my Twin Sister Carnies and colored them with my Prismacolor markers. Phew....a lot of stamping went into this box! OK...so I stamped the word CARNIVAL (also in the Carnies set) with the distress ink onto the same rectangle and then I glued everything together. Oh yea, and I used some ribbon!

For the inside of the box I used lots of blue and white acrylic paint. I stamped out my Water Nymph for the inside of my box and colored her in as well. Then, I glued her to the side panel and placed the Blue Moon Snake Pendant in her hands with hot glue. I stamped the other inside panels with the Tree Nymph. For the final touch...I sprayed the entire thing with some silver glitter spray :)

Hope you like it - would love your feedback.

So, go now to check out all the details and wicked projects over at The Burtonesque Dolls. Can't wait to see what you create!

Smeared Ink Shirts for my Bebe....

So...I've been wanting to make some shirts for my little one for a while now. I finally got around to doing them. I made two – one with Killer Bo' Peep and one with the Crouching Fae. I love them! I cheated a little bit because I colored everything digitally and printed them out on iron-ons, cut them and applied them to her little bitty t-shirts  :)

Here is the Killer Bo' Peep shirt...

The shirt.

WHEN I THINK ABOUT YOU...

OK, so I guess I've left enough time for people to get the cards I've sent. I created this card from a digital image that my co-worker found online. It was so fun and just tickled something in my brain.

So...I made them and sent them to our Smeared and Smudged Design Team (all but Black Dragon...the post office was closed and I couldn't get international shipping, so if you see this before you get it I'm sorry! But you will get it sooner or later).

The card is nothing amazing. I kept it simple because it just worked the way it was. I distressed the paper and that's about it. Enjoy!

Fun card!

BAAAHAHAHAHA! MADE YOU LOOK!

;)

I have a simple but fun card that I can't wait to share with you. This is really just a teaser because I haven't finished making them yet. And yes, I said 'them' because I am making multiples for some very special people in my life. I'm going to try to have them finished and mailed out by Friday and I will post some pictures and details of them next week. I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone!! ;)

On to the hop! Betty herself challenged us to "Get Grungy with Simply Betty Stamps!" So here is my card...I used Miller. This stamp was so much fun to play with!

Hope you like it. I used cardboard for pretty much everything. I stamped the images with Stayzon and colored them in directly on the cardboard. Then I cut a peice for the background, painted it black and then dripped and spalletered some acrylic paints and some silver spray paint. I also sprayed some beer bottle caps to use for my sentiment "YUH" and the hand drawn/painted skully in the bottom corner. I got some shoe string and then glued it all together.  :)

Here is a list of the other participants. Please visit everyone and leave some comments about what you think of their awesome art. You'll see some great stuff! And make sure you visit Betty on her blog since she is playing along today!
